We keep our collection deliberately small — never more than we can walk ourselves. Every door code, every path to the water, every sunrise checked by someone who lives here.
The best seat is on the deck.
Golden hour, quiet water, and long evenings outside. Many of our homes face the sunset head-on — we stock the deck chairs and leave the lights low.
Small by design
When the big managers moved in with lockboxes and call centers, we went the other way — fewer homes, kept perfectly, hosted in person. Years on, we still walk every property before every arrival.

Had a wonderful stay! Will definitely be coming back. Host was very communicative and accommodating. Location is oceanfront with a small walk to the beach. Beach amenities and kid friendly touches were nice.

We enjoyed our stay very much at Zen on Oak Island. Brittany, the host, was very responsive, flexible, and helpful. The house was clean and exactly as advertised. THE BEDS WERE COMFORTABLE, which in the world of short rentals, can be hard to find. There was adequate tableware for a very large group, enough towels for everyone, and enough beach chairs and umbrellas that people didnt have to stay together for every trip to the beach. There is a washer and dryer on both floors. The pool was lovely (and as a non-pool owner, I believe it was a salt water pool), clean, and spacious. Our kids had a blast! The beach is very close-by, being about a one minute walk. It's a comfortable walk. If we could, we would absolutely stay at this beach rental again :) Thank you, Brittany, for offering such a lovely home!
